Who we are in Christ

For those of you who showed up Friday, thanks. It was fun, albeit a little more low-key than usual.

For those who couldn't make it, we missed you and I encourage you to check out Romans 8 some time. It really is one of the greatest single chapters in the entirety of Scripture. In it, Paul spells out how believers are not who they were before. We are changed beings, with the Spirit in us and no longer living according to our flesh. The great thing is that, while he does call us to live and walk in the Spirit, Paul also lets us know that this is not just something we need to do, it's something we are going to do because we have the Spirit in us already (if we belong to Christ, that is).

No wonder the first verse of the chapter says "There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus," and the ending reiterates that and lets us know that we can't be separated from His love. When you read through the chapter, you find out that God did it all and our eternal hope is guaranteed because it's bound up in Him, not in us.

Now, that ought to make you want to praise a little bit!

So go tell somebody, already!

:-) Barry
