Animazement: May 25-27

Epicenter is taking a group to Animazement, an anime convention taking place Friday, May 25 through Sunday, May 27 at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel in Durham. All through that weekend, we will be volunteering and using that as a platform for witnessing and building relationships (not to mention having some fun)

Epicenter has signed up to provide people to run one of the convention's video rooms, which involves pressing "play" a lot, denying people without admissions tags entry, and running for help if the screen catches on fire. At the same time, some of us will be running a table outside with free face art (that's what we call face painting that doesn't actually use messy paints). We're looking for as many volunteers as possible to do both, not to mention simply hanging out with people all over the convention (anyone who can get there Thursday afternoon is invited to help the convention staff with set up as well). We've also reserved two hotel rooms on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, into which we'll cram everyone who wants to spent the nights on sight. For direction and other convention information, visit The Animazement Website.

Preregistration can be taken care of on the convention website and cost $42 (deadline for preregistration is MAY 8). A weekend pass can also be purchased at the convention itself for $45, as can single day passes ($25 on Friday, $30 on Saturday, $15 on Sunday). The hotel room cost won't be known for certain until we know who all it will be divided among, but current estimates suggest it will cost just under $50 a head.

If you can't come to the convention, you can still help out! The prices mentioned above are a little steep for any college student, so we're accepting donations to help cover them (especially the hotel rooms). Any help would be appreciated.

This will be the third year Epicenter has sent a group to Animazement, and it's always been a tremendous opportunity to be a witness to people who have often had nothing but bad encounters with "Christians." Thus far, everyone who's gone has made a VERY good impression on everyone at the convention, and we're hopping this year will be even better!
